Dale's Pet Care was created in 2003 by Dale Smith to meet the local demand for overnight pet care in the area. Having been involved with pet care and placement through the Humane Society of Olney since 1960, Dale is well aware of the needs of many types of pets. She has been responsible for the health care needs, as well as the daily care needs, of the animals. Although most of our guests are dogs and cats, we welcome small animals such as hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, birds and fish. (You will need to bring the small animal's cage with them.) Whether your pet needs to stay a day, a weekend, a week or longer, be assured plenty of love and care will be provided.
WVLN-WSEI awarded Dale Smith the 2011 Citizen of the Year award citing her dedicated service to the community in the arena of rescuing animals. Dale's motto is "Pet care with love."
To further meet the needs of local pets and their families, Dale's Pet Care opened a nearly 2 acre dog park in October 2011. The park is open to the public by appointment. Rules of the park include that all dogs must be current on vaccinations and social with other pets. Dogs must be supervised by their owner during the entire use of the park. For safety and reduced aggressive behavior, only spayed or neutered dogs will be permitted. There is no charge to use the park although any donations will be accepted on behalf of the Humane Society of Olney.
